Browning Open Gearing

Browning offers a comprehensive line of off-the-shelf gears, including spur, miter, and bevel, as well as change gears. These are available in 20º pressure angle from 20 to 4 diametral pitch and 14 1/2º pressure angle from 48 to 3 diametral pitch. They are all designed to increase output, reduce costs, and avoid the need for custom specials.

Minimum Bore Spur Gears

Available in Steel and Cast Iron
These are available in 20° PA from 20 to 4 DP, and 14½° PA from 32 to 3 DP
Designed to increase output, reduce costs and avoid specials
Minimum Bore Spur Gears are provided from stock to allow for simple modifications

Finished Bore Spur Gears

Browning Finished Bore Spur Gears are manufactured from steel
These are available in 20° PA with 16 DP, and 14½° PA from 16 to 8 DP
All designed to increase output, reduce costs and avoid specials

Bushed Spur Gears

Browning Bushed Gears hold the shaft with clamp fit and eliminate costly reworking on replacement gears
The only stock Bushed Open Gear line available
Less expensive and more readily available than reworks

Non-Metallic Spur Gears

Made of laminated Phenolic material having high impact strength
Excellent qualities of resistance of moisture and wear
Usually employed as driving pinions with steel or cast iron mating gears, where the reduction of noise is a primary importance

Change Gears

Browning Change Gears are Manufactured from Steel
Are stocked with finished bore and two keyways
Used with stock Change Gear Bushings
Used for easy ratio changes
Can weld on a Steel-Hub to create a Spur Gear
Can Drill and Tap for Bolt On applications
Can weld on Steel Hub for use with Browning Split Taper Bushing

Gear Rack

Available in 2 ft., 4 ft., 6 ft., 12 ft. lengths
The only 12 ft. lengths available from stock in the industry
Cut oversized to allow for matched ends
Available from stock in 14 1/2° and 20° PA

Bevel and Miter Gears

Used for transmission of power of motion between 90° intersecting shafts
Spiral Bevel and Miter gears are hardened for longer life
Spiral Bevel Gears have continuous pitch line contact and therefore run more smoothly and quietly than straight tooth gears
Large ratios available from stock for flexible design
